Buy a franchise
Is franchising right for you?
Before you shortlist logos, shortlist yourself. The wrong fit costs more than a franchise fee.
Franchising rewards people who can follow a system, manage people, and stay capitalised through the ramp-up. It frustrates people who want full creative freedom or passive income from day one.
Honest questions
Capital
Can you fund fee + fit-out + deposits + stock + licences + 6–12 months working capital without betting the family’s safety net?
Role
Will you operate daily, hire a manager, or seek true FOCO passivity? Most Indian FOFO deals expect a serious operator.
Risk
Can you absorb a slow first year, rent lock-ins, and the chance the brand under-delivers on support?
Skills & time
Are you willing to learn hiring, marketing, inventory, and compliance — over 18–36 months of focused effort?
Strong fit when…
- You want structure more than pure invention
- You respect brand standards and training
- You have operational stamina (or capital for a strong manager)
- You can diligence numbers without being dazzled by ads
Pause when…
- You need the business to “run itself” immediately
- Paying the fee empties your buffer
- You resent following SOPs
- You have not spoken to existing franchisees of any brand
Operator vs investor
If you want to be passive only, verify the model is truly FOCO with a credible operator — not FOFO sold with hopeful language.
